Retouch headshot using Lightroom
Some people struggle to find a way to make a portrait look soft. I found a nice trick to softening my portrait in Adobe lightroom. In lightroom Click on the brush tool, follow by going below and clicking on Exposure and go to the menu that says Soften skin and you will be ready to start working. Brush around the face areas that you want soft, while avoiding the eyes and lips of course. To view if you missed a spot click on the black dot and this will show like a mask of the areas brushed by you. Continue to do this until you are satisfy. Once your done you may want to consider the level of the Soft Skin Effect you like for this photo I used about 52% percent. But you can choose whatever you think is right.

Lame MTV VMAs leaves viewers wanting more
Ok, so a group of us watched the MTV VMAs together and found ourselves wondering is MTV a thing of the past. And the answered could be that there is a possibility MTV is out of touch with the new viewers. They pretty much have forgotten the older
viewers. I would say that 50% of the artist present are lost or naive. With their poor dressing, communication and lots of unwanted
baggage. MTV continues to attack the artist the viewers and fan love and purchase their music. A show which supposed to be rewarding good craftsmanship cannot attack its artist. No wonder so many talented artist skip this crappy show. Which the VMAs
has become. The poorly produce show needs to fire some of the staff. Including the person who suggested it the host. They should also consider having show base on attacking the musicians separately from the VMAs. It makes me sick to an artist get
awarded for some crappy poorly edited dance move videos. Perhaps MTV needs to sent their producers to watch a couple of Broadway shows to see what singing and dancing is all about. The VMAs was the weakest poorly produce show ever. They should thank Lady Gaga, The innocent miss America Taylor Swift and of course Mr. Kanye West. These Artist saved you and kept the viewers watching. I rate the VMAs 1 star out of 5.

Lighting portrait 101
To light a portrait a lot of us immediately think what type of light can i used and the simple answer is whatever is available. That's all you need, because that's what you have. Now don't get me wrong with a chunk of cash you can get quality professional strobes that can run you over $5,000 on a basic kit and if your field demands that type
equipment get it, practice and wait for the bookings to come in. Now if you are like most of us that want to be there but can't a simple kit will do. You can even improvise
and visit a hardware store, go online and use the web to find millions of how to sites.
remember one thing for all we know you might create the next invention. One suggestion don't burn the house down. Now back to the topic of lighting. Use whatever you have have I remember doing and entire house party with no lighting at all and guest what I got some pretty good pictures. Of course many occasion you can do without. Show up to a magazine photo meeting and tell them you don't use light, you will never find work in that town or any other town. If you wan to make and impression learn how to use lighting properly. I bet most people don't know or don't care what type of lighting you are going to use. Show with a camera flash and some customers will be happy with that. The bottom line is to practice don't invest a lot, buy simple and grow from there and don't forget practice, practice and more practice that's how you will become better. LIGHTING SUGGESTION 101 COMING SOON. For more information visit http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/
